There is a difference between dental crowns and bridges, but they are closely related. Let's begin with crowns. In essence, a crown is a false tooth with a hollow interior. Designed to cover the entire remaining structure of your existing tooth, right down to the gum line, it fits over your existing tooth. Enamel that has been damaged or is vulnerable is covered up by this.
In addition to protecting your tooth from further damage, it also restores its shape, size, and appearance. Chipped, cracked, and broken teeth are often treated with crowns. In addition, they are often used to restore teeth that have undergone root canal therapy.
Repairing a damaged tooth with a dental crown helps prevent further problems like tooth infections. In the same way, replacing a missing tooth with a dental bridge, allows you to speak and eat normally, and prevents lots of oral health issues like teeth shifting toward the empty socket, which is a common problem after tooth loss.
Dental bridges and crowns are almost always covered by dental insurance when medically necessary. That means that they are a good choice for patients who may be on a tight budget. Bridges, in particular, tend to be cheaper than alternatives like dental implants.
To preserve as much natural tooth as possible, your dentist will only remove the necessary amount of enamel to place your crowns or bridges. Both procedures also don’t involve any serious oral surgery, only the removal of some of the outer layers of your teeth.
Bridges usually last between 10-15 years, and crowns can easily last 20+ years with proper care. Investing in a crown or bridge will protect your smile and your oral health for years to come.

My 16 year old son had his first cavity. He does not like needles, Dr. Weimer and her staff are the most polite, respectful, pleasant people to deal with. They took very good care of my son. He was very pleased and relieved after it was done.

As usual I had an excellent session for a small filling and regular cleaning. This visit I asked if Weimer Dental would donate some dental care kits to a womens' shelter near my house, Christine's Place at 5102 Independence Ave. They weren't able to provide kits in plastic cases like they give to patients but Brenda, a dental assistant there, put together a boxful of kits in bags to be donated to the shelter. They were very grateful for the kits as they will go to women who have little time or money for such supplies.

I don't like going to the dentist, but my son and I really liked going to Dr. Weimer. It's been the best dentist experience I've ever had. The whole staff was super nice, the dental hygientist was very personable, would take breaks and always asked how I was doing and if I was comfortable. I'm actually looking forward to my next cleaning!
